Educational Carrier
Anjali has two sisters and a brother. She did her schooling from Razole and later shifted to Chennai, Tamil Nadu where she sustained her studies, chasing a degree in mathematics. After completed her education,
Professional Carrier
she started her acting career in short films, which flagged the way for her beginning into the film industry. Anjali mentioned that her parents had the inspiration to become an actor and that she “realised their dreams” through her.
During one of her modelling ventures, she was noticed by director Siva NageswaraRao, who presented her a starring role in his thriller Telugu film Photo (2006). Anjali represented a ghost haunting her murderers in Photo, which co-starred two more inexperienced newcomers, Anand and Bhanu. She played the female lead in another Telugu assignment, the romance film PremalekhaRaasa (2007), directed by lyricist Kulasekhar, opposite a debutant again both films gained a negative response and failed to impress audience at the box office, failing to thrust her career in Telugu cinema.
She made her Tamil film début film later that year in KattradhuThamizh, directed by Ram, which released to strong critical praise. Anjali won critical acclaim for her presentation of Anandhi, the childhood friend and love interest of a young teacher-turned-psychopath (sanctioned by Jeeva). For Behindwoods critics wrote that she was “a pleasure to watch and mesmerises the viewer with her beautiful fresh face & stylish killer look and her performance”, while Pavithra Srinivasan of Rediff labelled her as “a breath of fresh air” and “the perfect foil to Jeeva’soverabundance of emotions”.
She grew in popularity, leading her to several more projects, although the film proved commercially unsuccessful. She appeared in two more films in 2008; Honganasu, her first Kannada project and Aayudham Seivom in Tamil. Later, she featured her as the female lead opposite Sundar C, was panned by critics and she criticised for accepting that role, with reviewers noting that she had nothing to do in the film,’ “except roll her eyes”.
