In the early 2000’s he was sent to his cousin’s place in new york due to certain issues, then he moved in with his grandmother back in Toronto, and later on, he moved out at the age of 15.
As stated in many interviews by Daystar, the actor struggled from the age of 15 till 18 for a lively hood and then he started rapping again. Idolizing the greatest rapper Notorious BIG, Lanez started to build his career as a rapper.
Daystar released his very first solo in 2009 “TL2TO”, he started off as you tuber, who used to direct music videos. It was through his channel he caught the eye of Sean Kingston, who was interested in Lanez after seeing his freestyle rapping on Lloyd Bank’s ‘Beamer, Benz, or Bentley“. After which lanez got an opportunity to perform live in a Justin Bieber concert.
By 2010 Tory was releasing his mixtapes like Just landed, One Verse One Hearse, Playing for Keeps, and Mr 1 Verse Killah. And by 2011 he signed an official contract with Time is Money Entertainment, and under this agency, he released his mixtapes namely Mr. Peterson, Chixtape, and Swavey. But unfortunately, the partnership didn’t last long and Tory soon left the company and started to work as an independent artist.
Then in 2012 Lanez realized a number of mixtapes like Sincerely Tory and Conflict of my soul. After which he continued to gain popularity and launched his series named “Fargo Fridays”. During which he used to launch his songs specifically on Fridays.
He released a number of albums and songs after that and then released the song ‘The Mission “announcing his official tour “lost cause tour” which is his first-ever headlining tour.
He founded his own management company “one umbrella“ in 2014. That initially started off as a subsidiary of a clothing brand “forever umbrella”
Lanez has always been surrounded by controversies and has always been found in conflict with some colleagues like Drake and Don Q. but the most recent one was the legal allegation by Megan Thee Stallion, who claims that she was shot by the rapper on 12th July 2020. The rapper still denies the incident and states that it never happened.
